Shopping for friends and family this holiday season doesn’t have to be stressful. Why not make a trip out of it and spend a relaxing weekend at the Hotel Saugatuck while shopping our diverse community of artisans and craftsmen? You’ll also escape the packed stores, long lines, and stress that usually comes with gift shopping this time of year (and probably spare yourself a few grey hairs, too). An excellent time to head to Saugatuck is at the end of November for the Thanksgiving weekend FennMagic Holiday Makers Market which will be held 11/23-25 11AM-7PM at Root Cafe on Fennville’s Main Street. Shopping small and local is a great way to give thanks to all the small business owners and artists that make Saugatuck and the surrounding area so great.

At the Holiday Maker’s Market, get help organizing a gift basket full of artisanal wares, fine arts and crafts, beer, wine, food, and more! Khnemu Studio will also have its annual clearance sale. If you haven’t discovered Dawn Soltysiak’s stunning handmade pottery, the time is now. Forget the gifts; you’ll be buying one for yourself! Enjoy demonstrations by Dawn and others, refreshments, and live music; Joan Donaldson will play the harp on Friday from 1-3PM. And besides all the talented artists that will guarantee you are awarded the de facto “Best Gift-Giver” of the year, you can also savor the flavors of Root Cafe’s rustic country food, paninis, and house-made baked goods, starting with fresh, local ingredients.
